Tushar Saxena, Director of Technology, Verizon Communications
He is responsible for evolution of video services, network, and CPE across all business units including FiOS, Wholesale (VDMS) and Verizon Wireless. Prior to this, he was responsible for Verizon’s digital home strategy for FiOS and DSL and was the chief architect of VoiceWing, Verizon's consumer VoIP service. Prior to Verizon, Tushar held key positions at BBN Technologies and GE Global Research where he was responsible for the development of a number of innovative government and military solutions using emerging IP networking technologies. Tushar holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York, Albany and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Joe Jasin, DNA Partners, Managing Director
Joe Jasin has built an international career within the wireless telecommunications and digital media distribution industries, establishing a cross-border depth of USA – Asia experience that includes: mobile internet, venture capital, and corporate development. He currently serves as Managing Director of DNA Investments, LLC an early stage venture investment firm. DNA is investing in companies based in the USA and China, industries centric to IP Communications and Digital Media Distribution. He recently served as Vice President of Corporate Development for SK Telecom, in Seoul Korea. At SK Telecom, his mandate was investments in USA and China. Major transactions include:1) 1bln investment ChinaUnicom, 2) 500 mln in Helio telecom,3) created a 100 mln venture capital fund called SKTVC, now investing in Silicon Valley California companies.
Joe Jasin is also the founder of ICE Wireless, one of the first B2B SAAS providers of wireless products and services, acquired by Quantumshift, Inc.. He was the founder the boutique investment banking firm called Wireless Blueprint, LLC supporting merger & acquisition transactions in Asia and USA. Wireless Blueprint was acquired by MCC Global a merchant bank based in London. Prior to those activities, he was at Sprint/Nextel as a Director of Product and Business Development for enterprises, implementing applications for the Motorola iDEN network.
He presently holds positions with numerous committee and industry groups; the founder and chair of the Software Development Forum’s Mobile internet group, formal advisor to the U.S. State Department’s – APEC Office of Commerce, and a founding member of CTIA’s Wireless Internet Caucus. Joe Jasin holds board of director’s position with emerging technology companies.
Mark Mangiola, Partner, Canaan Partners
Mark Mangiola joined Canaan in 2001 after over 20 years in operational leadership roles in the cable and broadband industry. Mark invests in communications companies that are transforming the delivery of digital media, as well as new consumer content companies that meld entertainment with interactivity. Mark has a visionary outlook about how consumers will watch and interact with content in the future, having participated first hand in the early emergence of both cable TV and the Internet. He also supports key clean tech opportunities. Mark actively participated in Canaan’s investment in Ellacoya (acquired by Arbor Networks), a rapidly-growing broadband service optimization company.
A super-connected industry veteran, Mark leverages his network to fill key executive positions at Canaan’s portfolio firms and helps them spearhead strategic relationships with industry-leading corporations. Prior to Canaan, Mark served as CEO of @Home Solutions, a division of Excite@Home. He was previously the President and CEO of Positive Communications and an Executive VP at KBLCOM/Time Warner.
When Mark is not thinking about how consumer-generated video will change the world, he is sprinting around a track. A passionate athlete, Mark coaches high-school and college track athletes and never misses a Meet of Champions track meet.
Colin Dixon, Senior Partner, Advisory, TDG ResearchHe is a senior technology consultant with a background building and managing all aspects of a technical business. His extensive experience includes new media, communications, networking and network management - industries where he has a proven record of developing and delivering top quality products and services on time to meet market needs.Colin has held senior executive positions at Microsoft/WebTV, Liberate and Oracle where he was responsible for technology and business teams delivering to the Cable, Satellite and IPTV industries. Over the last 15 years, he has led various corporate departments including engineering, business development, product and program management and marketing.
Colin is a published author and accomplished speaker including presentations at major industry shows such as NAB and IBC. He graduated from the University of Reading in England with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He holds a Masters in Engineering from the University of Florida and has post-graduate business education experience from Stanford.
Steve Dulac, Director of Engineering, DIRECTV, Inc., El Segundo, California
Steve has been with DIRECTV since 1997 in system engineering roles supporting service launches including HDTV, local channel rebroadcasts, DVR, interactive services, and home networking. As Director, Standards and Regulatory, in DIRECTV's Engineering organization, Steve is currently active representing DIRECTV in the Consumer Electronics Association, the Digital Living Network Alliance and the RVU Alliance. A Senior Member of IEEE, he is also responsible for DIRECTV’s participation in the ENERGY STAR program.
Elizabeth Carrasco, CTO, Clicker
Liz Carrasco is the CTO of Clicker, the first comprehensive, unbiased, and structured programming guide for Internet television. Liz has been leading key technology groups for over a decade, most recently at Spot Runner where she led the engineering team in creating and refining advertising technologies. Prior to Spot Runner, Liz was the Vice President of Engineering for Authenticlick, a leader in Web traffic analysis for advertisers, ad networks and publishers. In addition, Liz has held positions as vice president of Ad Systems Engineering at United Online, and director of Search Serving Engineering at Overture Inc, later Yahoo! Search Marketing. Before Overture, Liz headed up the technology team for the MonsterTrak division of Monster.com. Liz began her career designing satellites at TRW, where she learned the joy of complex project design. Liz holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from CalTech.
